Looking for the perfect way to celebrate Canada 150? Pair the citywide festivities with a delicious Happy Hour! With so many Happy Hours and events to choose from in Vancouver and across the Lower Mainland, you’re bound to find the perfect pair to join in on the Canadian celebrations.
VancouverDrinks & Fireworks
Visit the Cactus Club at Broadway & Ash for $4 drinks all day, all weekend long. Then, hop on the Canada Line to Waterfront Station and take in some breathtaking ocean views as you make your way over to Canada Place. The fireworks at Coal Harbour will begin at 10:30pm on the waterfront. According to CTV News, the best viewing locations are Canada Place, Harbour Green Park, Coal Harbour, Stanley Park (by the 9 o’clock gun), and Crab Park. Note that the fireworks are not visible from English Bay, Kitsilano, or Spanish Banks.
North VancouverHappy Hour & Parade
Head over to Grand Boulevard & 13th Street for the 10:00am Canada Day Parade in North Vancouver. Starting at noon, make your way over to the Canada Day Party at Waterfront Park and treat yourself to happy hour drinks and appetizers at The District Brasserie from 3:00-6:00pm. Afterwards, stick around to watch the fireworks across the water.
BurnabyHappy Hour & Free Concert
Treat yourself to a tasty Italian Happy Hour at Trattoria Burnaby, any time between 3:00-6:00pm. Afterwards, head up the street to Swanguard Stadium for a free concert and fireworks from 5:00-10:00pm.
RichmondBarbeque & Street Fair
Visit the quaint seaside village of Steveston for their Canada Day Street Festival with shopping, exhibits, food trucks, and performances all day. Be sure to check out the outdoor barbeque, hosted by Steveston Seafood House and enjoy your food with the company of great waterfront views. The restaurant will be open at 5:00pm for its regular service if you’re looking for a fancier dinner. Stick around for the fireworks, beginning at 10:15pm.
SurreyHappy Hour & Festival
Start your afternoon with Happy Hour at Milestones in Langley. They’re currently featuring their O’Canada menu, with an assortment of classic Canadian dishes. Then, celebrate Canada’s birthday at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre, with activities and games for all ages, prize giveaways, a massive zip line, and food trucks. The highlight of the night: later on in the evening, Hedley and Magic! will be performing.
New WestminsterHappy Hour & Family Celebration
From 11:30am-3:30pm, Queen’s Park will be a hub for activities, workshops, and performances that you can bring the whole family to. Breaking up the festivities, relax by the water at The Boathouse for a seafood-filled Happy Hour from 3:00-6:00pm. Be sure to take a walk along the boardwalk to explore the activities at the River Market before finding a spot to watch the waterfront fireworks at 10:00pm.
